A fast modified constructive-covering algorithm for binary multi-layer neural networks

چکیده
For binary neural networks (BNNs), constructive covering frameworks have been investigated recently. While these frameworks are fast, they have limitations of generalization and accurate classification for learning from limited number of samples. In this paper, we propose modified constructive-covering algorithm (MCCA), which consists of two processes: generalization process and modification process. Errors introduced in the generalization process are revised in the modification process by adding modification neurons. In our approach, we visualize hidden neurons in terms of hypershperes. The learning process is the geometrical expansion process of these hypershperes. Through our experimental work in Section 5, we conclude that, MCCA is not sensitive to the order in which the input sequence is given. In addition, MCCA results in simple neural network structures by less training time. r 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

PREDICTION OF COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AND DURABILITY OF HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE BY ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS
Neural networks have recently been widely used to model some of the human activities in many areas of civil engineering applications. In the present paper, artificial neural networks (ANN) for predicting compressive strength of cubes and durability of concrete containing metakaolin with fly ash and silica fume with fly ash are developed at the age of 3, 7, 28, 56 and 90 days. For building these...

A total of 1099 data points consisting of alcohol-alcohol, alcohol-alkane, alkane-alkane, alcohol-amine and acid-acid binary solutions were collected from scientific literature to develop an appropriate artificial neural network (ANN) model. Temperature, molecular weight of the pure components, mole fraction of one component and the structural groups of the components were used as input paramet...
متن کاملComparing Two Methods of Neural Networks to Evaluate Dead Oil Viscosity
Reservoir characterization and asset management require comprehensive information about formation fluids. In fact, it is not possible to find accurate solutions to many petroleum engineering problems without having accurate pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) data. Traditionally, fluid information has been obtained by capturing samples and then by measuring the PVT properties in a laboratory. In ...
متن کاملAn Automated MR Image Segmentation System Using Multi-layer Perceptron Neural Network
Background: Brain tissue segmentation for delineation of 3D anatomical structures from magnetic resonance (MR) images can be used for neuro-degenerative disorders, characterizing morphological differences between subjects based on volumetric analysis of gray matter (GM), white matter (WM) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), but only if the obtained segmentation results are correct. Due to image arti...
متن کاملUsing Artificial Neural Network Modeling in Predicting the Amount of Methyl Violet Dye Absorption by Modified Palm Fiber
Bio-absorbent palm fiber was applied for removal of cationic violet methyl dye from water solution. For this purpose, a solid phase extraction method combined with the artificial neural network (ANN) was used for preconcentration and determination of removal level of violet methyl dye. This method is influenced by factors such as pH, the contact time, the rotation speed, and the adsorbent dosag...
